"But we must try to find our True Conscience, our True Self, the very Center, for this is the only first-rate choice-making center. Here lies all originality, talent, honour, truthfulness, courage and cheerfulness."

SPECIALIZING IN ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, AND TRAUMA
Welcome!
I am pleased to introduce myself and my practice to you along with information which you may find helpful.
In my service to individuals, couples, and families, I work with a number of presenting issues, featuring but not limited to those named above.
In light of the amount of psychological distress we are witnessing, I think it is worthwhile to note that when events, messages, and images around us in our personal lives, the larger world, or both are logically incongruous or in contradiction to what we instinctively know, we will become confused. We are not meant to stay in a state of dissonance for long. Anxiety, depression, avoidance, compulsivity as well as passive or out-of-proportion expressions of anger can be the consequences.
Also, the experience of trauma, which can be personal and collective, colors one's view of himself or herself and the world, and therefore can underlie dysfunction. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional - Level II, and I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I have found EMDR to be an effective, gentle, and rapid approach for trauma resolution. The process of resolving frightening, hurtful, or shameful experiences provides access to more accurate information and an adaptive picture of one's past.
Because the natural world is our first teacher, I see it as our primary healer. To know one's own nature begins in nature. And, it seems, when we attend to our inner landscape by seeking the truths in our story and the larger human story, passionately desiring integrity, the macrocosm is favorably impacted by our efforts. Important work indeed.
ABOUT ME
I am a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor and have been in private practice since 2006, first in Houston and now in Dripping Springs. I received an MA in Counseling Psychology with Emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2002 and gained my therapist wings in a historical psychiatric hospital in Albuquerque, NM.
In the hospital milieu, as well as in subsequent counseling agency settings, working with substance abuse, grief & loss, mood disorders, abuse & neglect, and relationship & family conflict, I became acutely aware of the profound role that trauma can play in psychological distress. Consequently, my approach to therapy considers the whole person from a depth perspective as we work together to resolve the cause of the difficulty that has led you to seek counseling.
